Fantazie a fuga g moll, BWV 542, nazývaná „Velká“, vznikla v roce 1708. Stejně jako u všech známějších varhanních Bachových skladeb byla nesčetněkrát nahrána, ze stránek „jsbach.org“, vybírám známá jména Marie-Claire Alain, Karl Richter, Albert Schweitzer, Helmut Walcha, Simon Preston, Ton Koopman, Peter Hurford, další najdeme v příslušném odkazu. Je to zajímavé, tato harmonicky odvážná skladba, jak ji označuje německá Wikipedie, má dokonce svůj profil na Facebooku. Označení „Velká“ má skladba, aby byla snáze rozlišitelná od méně známé stejnojmenné skladby, označované pak jako „Malá“.

One of Bach's great organ works. The name was given to distinguish it from his more famous "Little" fugue in g minor.
The concept of this video, in case people are confused, is the idea of combining the beauty of architecture and the beauty of nature. Even though a fantasia is a free form piece and a fugue is a very structured piece, this particular Fantasia and Fugue is different.
To me, the Fantasia sounds like it is based on structure, so I thought pictures of beautiful cathedrals would work. Also, the most bombastic parts are in the Fantasia, so that explains the organs.
The Fugue, like all of Bach's fugues, sounds very natural and free. Nature is the best subject to compare this fugue with.
